I have experienced many traumas
in the first years of my life. By the early age of 12, I was as
much of a mess as any human being can possibly be. At the beginning
of my teens, I became an alcoholic. Thanks to the numbness provided
by alcohol, I managed to survive a heart wrenching teenage life.
Strangely enough I listened to a speaker just prior to writing this
article and she quoted that suicidal desires are caused by the separation
between our mind and our spiritual essence. Well, I was there for
many years and what kept me alive during those years was the fear
of hell. I lived hell within and eternal hell never really appealed
to me. Those were my beliefs of the time.
Emotional
healing and transformation came very slowly for me. I attribute
this to two reasons. The first being; I came from a long way and
had a lot of healing to do. The day I chose life over suicide, I
embarked on a difficult yet incredibly rewarding journey. The second
reason: the powerful skills for personal transformation I have discovered
and acquired in the past few years were not available to me during
the first years of my healing. It’s good to know that our
emotions and feelings can sometimes change at the speed of thought
opposed to having to wear them out…well, at least that’s
what it felt like at the time.
Following are some of the skills i have acquired
that prove to be powerful and useful tools when assisting my clients
towards the changes they desire.
